ISO 18876 "IIDEAS" is an International Standard that is being developed within ISO TC184, SC4 Industrial data, WG10 Technical architecture. ISO 18876 is designed to satisfy the following high level requirements:

  • sharing and integration of data from multiple, heterogeneous sources;
  • interoperability between applications and organizations that implement different standards.

Use the picture below to navigate the different technical elements that comprise ISO 18876 and the SC4 Data Architecture.

The first two parts of ISO 18876 were published as Technical Specifications in November 2003:

  • Part 1: Architecture overview and description;
  • Part 2: Mapping and integration methodology.

Part 1 provides a general description of the architecture, its components, and its intended use.

Part 2 describes the mapping and integration methodology component of the architecture. This description is independent of both modelling language and the details of the integration model used.

The requirements for IIDEAS and the initial technical basis for the standard were developed within the Preliminary Work Item on SC4 Data Architecture.

Please note that working drafts of ISO 18876 parts are subject to ISO`s copyright restrictions.
